Use pair writing to work together with subject matter experts
Learn how to:
- help content designers and subject matter experts to work together
- focus content discussions on meeting user needs
- speed up publishing processes
We need input from subject matter experts to make sure content is accurate. When Audun Rundberg was a web editor for the Norwegian government, he took experts’ raw copy, worked his magic, and handed it back for sign-off. But this linear workflow often led to conflict instead of meeting user needs.
Audun discovered pair writing, inspired by the agile technique of pair programming. It includes both parties in the content creation process from the start, which builds trust.
Audun Rundberg is a content strategist at Netlife Research, a user experience consultancy in Oslo, Norway. He’s part of a multidisciplinary design team, working on anything from defining business goals to writing content or creating prototypes.
